Indeed, the political arena would not be its true self if there were no prominent politicians constantly getting into legal trouble for misappropriation of funds, lying or insider deal-making, yet the former Illinois governor left nary an offense off his long list of transgression that ultimately landed him and a half a dozen of his closest criminal associates with indictments for "a wide-ranging scheme to deprive the people of Illinois of honest government" (Samborn, 2009).
